Abstract

A discussion of Bayesian spatio-temporal modelling of anchovy abundance through the SPDE approach by Quiroz and Prates for the Winter 2019 Space-time reading group at the University of Washington. This study models presence and abundance of Peruvian anchoveta based on acoustic survey data gathered between 1999 and 2007. Nine models were fit using INLA with different temporal, spatial, and spatio-temporal structure. They were compared for model fit and one-step-ahead predictive ability.
